Kaillie Humphries and Elana Meyers Taylor have fought hard throughout their careers, with more than a couple of races separated by hundredths of a second. In the final race of the season, once again, it came down to the blink of an eye.
Humphries held the advantage going into the second run by only .03 over Meyers Taylor. Meyers Taylor came down before Humprhies, with the second fastest push of the race, out-pushing Humphries by a tenth. Both women had nearly flawless runs, and when Humphries crossed the line, she was just .03 behind the time set by Meyers Taylor.
Anja Schneiderheinze tied the start record on her final push of the season. The world champion held off a hard charge by Christina Hengster of Austria to take bronze. Hengster took fourth place, ahead of Belgian Elfje Willemsen, who finished fifth. Jamie Greubel Poser finished rounded out the top six in sixth for the United States.
With her second place finish, combined with Jamie Greubel Poser’s sixth place finish, Kaillie Humphries takes the World Cup title, ahead of Greubel Poser and Christina Hengster, who finished second and third. Elfje Willemsen, Anja Schneiderheinze and An Vannieuwenhuyse round out the top six overall.
Mica McNiell had a season’s best seventh place finish for Great Britain, just two spots ahead of Belgium’s Van Vannieuwenhuyse, who finished ninth.
