Brakeman, What Brakeman?

Swiss Sliding's Mono Bob

FIBT, Swiss Sliding and Omega Present Mono Bob
Driver, pusher and brakeman all in one
(FIBT)

St. Moritz (RWH) Pushing, driving and braking, a matter of teamwork in a two or four-seater bobsleigh, are all completed by just one athlete in a mono bob. The new sleigh was presented by the international bobsleigh and skeleton federation FIBT and its President Ivo Ferriani, the Swiss association Swiss Sliding, and sponsor Omega during a press conference in St. Moritz (SUI).

Swiss Sliding's Mono Bob

At 2.30 metres and just 130 kilograms, the mono bob is shorter and lighter than the conventional two or four-seater, and can therefore be pushed off, steered down the ice track and stopped after passing the finish line by a single athlete. The idea behind this new sleigh is to make entry into the sport easier, as the pilot no longer needs a crew.
