In what seems to be a trend, the doubles luge event was condensed into one heat thanks to unrelenting weather leading up to the event.
Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt dominated the one heat event, with both the fastest start and the fastest run down the Park City track. At every split, the German team was ahead, finishing their run .074 ahead of the Latvian team of Andris and Juris Sics, who finished second.
Germans Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken finished with a bronze medal, less than .025 ahead of Russians Andrey Bogdanov and Andrey Medvedev, who finished just outside of the medals in fourth.
Americans Matt Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman overcame an 18th quickest start to finish fifth, while Robin Gueke and David Gamm finished sixth to continue their stellar 2016/2017 season.
All three American teams finished in the top 11, with Justin Krewson and Andrew Sherk finishing tenth, just ahead of Jacob Hyrns and Anthony Espinoza, who finished 11th.
Canadians Tristan Walker and Justin Snith finished 18th after trouble in the lower half of the course.
