2016/2017 FIL Natural Track World Cup – Women’s Luge – Race 2

Evelin Lanthaler won what was the tightest race of the Latsch World Cup weekend.

The Italian came into the second run just .06 ahead of Kühtai winner Tina Unterberger, with teammate Greta Pinggera only .08 off of her pace as well. Lanthaler took control on her second run with the fastest run of the second heat to win her first gold of the season.

Unterberger finished with a silver medal, edging Pinggera by .14. Pinggera took bronze by just under a half second ahead of teammate Sara Bachmann.

Michele Diepold finished fifth helping make the top five entirely Italian and Austrian. Daria Maleeva finished sixth for Russia.

Tristen Vidlund became the first American woman to compete on the FIL Natural Track World Cup tour. The 16 year old finished 16th in her first World Cup race.
