In the first team relay of the 2016/2017 season, Italy dominated on their way to gold.
Evelin Lanthaler and Alex Gruber both set the fastest times of the heat for men and women. Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara once again were beat on the track by Rupert Brueggler & Tobias Angerer of Austria, but it wasn’t nearly enough to beat the Italian team.
The Austrians finished second, just ahead of the Russian team anchored by Pavel Porshnev & Ivan Lazarev.
The British team of Evans, Budd, and Unwin & Reeves finished fifth.
