Beierl Sweeps Lillehammer Women’s Bobsled Stop

From Lillehammer, NOR

(Nov. 12, 2017) Kati Beierl won her second IBSF European Cup bobsled race in a row, once again beating out a trio of Germans on her way to her second career gold medal.

Beierl and brakewoman Jennifer Onasanya were the only team with a start time under 5.50, and were rewarded with an overall victory of .72 over Germany’s Laura Nolte.

Nolte came into her second run in third place, behind teammate Kim Kalicki. Kalicki couldn’t maintain pace in her second run and fell back one spot behind Nolte, settling for bronze.

Christin Senkel rounded out the German effort with a fourth place finish, ahead of Swiss pilot Martina Fontanive and Russian Lubov Chernykhk, who finished fifth and sixth respectively.
