Fernstädt Wins Second ICC of the Season

From Calgary, CAN

(Nov. 12, 2017) German slider Anna Fernstädt won her second race in three tries on the 2017/2018 Intercontinental Cup season, coming back from out of the medals to do so.

Canada’s Madison Charney and Great Britain’s Kimberley Murray came into their second run tied for the lead, with Lanette Prediger, Madelaine Smith, and Fernstädt all wedged in to the top five by only .12.

Fernstädt took control in her second run, with the German putting down the fastest run of the entire race. The rest of the top five couldn’t keep pace, and after all was said and done Anna Fernstädt had won her second race of the season.

Charney held onto silver, just .04 ahead of teammate Prediger, who finished with a bronze medal.

Great Britain’s Kimberley Murray and Madelaine Smith finished fourth and fifth, respectively, while Germany’s Janine Becker finished sixth.

Annie O’Shea led the way for the United States with an eighth place finish, while teammates Gracie Clapp-Taylor and Megan Henry finished 12th and 15th.

Jaclyn Laberge finished seventh to round out the Canadian effort, while Katie Tannenbaum of the US Virgin Islands finished 19th.
