(Dec. 6, 2018) – It had been nearly four years since Romain Heinrich had struck gold in European Cup action, having last won in 4-man bobsled in St. Moritz during the 2014/2015 IBSF European up season. In the opener of the 2018/2019 season, Heinrich once again made his way to the top of the European Cup podium.
Heinrich was the quickest in the first heat, and held off a charge by German Olympian Johannes Lochner to clinch gold.
Lochner finished second on the strength of the quickest run in the second heat, leapfrogging teammate Jonas Jannusch to take silver. Jannusch finished with a bronze medal in third.
Timo Rohner finished with a career-best fourth place finish, ahead of 2016/2017 European Cup champion Richard Oelsner and Russian Ivan Linyuchev.
