(Jan. 10, 2019) – Ashleigh Pittaway won her third consecutive medal of the season, edging Kelly Curtis for North American Cup gold in Calgary.
The British slider was he quickest in the first heat, just ahead of a trio of Canadians and American Kelly Curtis. On the second run Curtis charged back, finishing her run over .4 faster than anyone else in the heat. Pittaway’s second trip down was second-quickest in the heat, but it was enough to hold off Curtis by .03 of a second.
Pittaway’s win was her first of the season, and third consecutive podium across two tours.
Curtis finished second, .09 ahead of Madi Charney of Canaada. Charney’s teammates Lanette Prediger and Jaclyn LaBerge finished just behind her in fourth and fifth, while Danxia Yang of China finished sixth.
The bronze medal was a season-best for Charney.
Sara Roderick finished seventh and Michelle Toukan tenth to help put three Americans in the top ten, while Kristen Hurley finished just outside of the top ten in 13th.
Janelle Khan-Nielsen finished 16th as the fourth Canadian in the field, while Brogan Crowley finished 12th for Great Britain.
Kelly Curtis leads Swedish slider Leslie Stratton by 23 points with one race to go in the North American Cup season.
