Latvian Women go 1-2 in Sigulda EC Skeleton

From Jan. 18, 2020 – Endija Terauda won her second European Cup gold medal of the season, cruising to victory on home ice in Sigulda.

The Latvian opened up a .28 second advantage over Stefanie Votz after the first run. On the second run, Darta Zunte threw down the best run of the heat, and Votz couldn’t answer, with Votz falling to fifth and Zunte moving into the lead with just Terauda to come.

Terauda couldn’t match the pace set by Zunte, but had enough of an advantage to take gold by .21 over her teammate for her second gold of the season.

Alina Tararychenkova finished third, up from fourth in the first heat.

Agathe Besssard finished fourth, up from fifth in the first heat. Vogz finished fifth, while Sarah Wimmer rounded out the top six.

Kristen Hurley finished 12th as the lone American in the field. It was her first competition in Sigulda.
