Seibel Wins Altenberg Gold, Clinches EC Title

From Altenberg, GER

Jan. 24, 2020 – Felix Seibel cruised to victory in Altenberg to win his second gold of the 2019/2020 European Cup season, and with it the season title.

Seibel was the fastest in both heats on his way to a half second victory over Russia’s Vladislav Semenov. The gold for Seibel was his fourth medal on the European Cup season, and enough to clinch the season title ahead of Latvian Krists Netlaus.

Semeonv finished second for his second straight medal, while British slider Matt Weston finished with a bronze.

Stefan Röttig finished fourth, a tenth behind Weston, while Ludwig Mannhardt and Nathan Crumpton rounded out the top six.

Netlaus finished eighth, leaving him only 8 points ahead of Semenov going into the season finale but far enough behind Seibel where the German has clinched.

Great Britain put two men in the top ten, with Ben Fulker finishing tenth. Teammate Laurence Bostock finished 16th, one spot ahead of Austin McCrary, the lone American in the field, in 17th.
