FIBT World Cup – Round 5 – Women’s Skeleton – Heat 1

From Königssee, Germany

For the first time in a while, the women’s skeleton athletes have near-perfect weather for their event.  Benefiting from the nice weather is Shelley Rudman, who had an unfortunate time with snowy weather earlier in the year.  Rudman leads by .15 over German Marion Thees.  Katharina Heinz looked to have a good run, but the speed just wasn’t there, and she sits a half-second out of gold, but only a hundredth ahead of World Cup point leader Mellisa Hollingsworth.

Americans Katie Uhlaender, Anne O’Shea and Kimber Gabryszak sit 5th, 13th and 19th, while Canadians Mellisa Hollingsworth, Amy Gough and Sarah Reid are 4th, 11th and 14th.
