FIBT World Cup – Round 7 – Four-Man Bobsled

From Whistler, Canada

Earlier this weekend, it seemed as though there would be no beating the Canadians on their home ice.  Tonight, the Russian teams of Zubkov and Kasjanov had other plans.

Zubkov had the fastest runs both heats, taking his third gold of the 2011/2012 season.  Kasjanov found himself on the podium for the first time this season.

A near-perfect second run for Lyndon Rush on his home ice, but lacked some of the bottom-end speed of the Russians and could do no better than bronze, just .02 out of a silver medal.

Max Arndt slips getting into the sled in heat 2, and despite a good recovery, could do no better than fourth.  The Bertazzo-piloted Italian sled finishes fifth, edging out Manuel Machata.

Cory Butner led the way for the Americans, finishing 7th, while Nick Cunningham finishes 9th out of the 14 sled field.  Justin Kripps in Canada 2 finishes 12th.
