Schneider Wins 2nd 2-Woman EC Race of the Season

From Winterberg, GER

(December 5, 2021) – Stephanie Schneider won her second European Cup race of the season, edging out France’s Margot Boch for the top spot of the race.

Boch and Carla Senechal were the first team off the top in the first heat, and Boch held off everyone but Schneider in the first heat, with the Frenchwoman railing by just .06. On the second run Boch slid back into the lead, edging out Germany’s Lisa Buckwitz by only .04, leaving just Schneider to go.

Stephanie Schneider, a World Cup winner, was unphased by the pressure. She slid clean and clear and was .17 ahead of Boch at the line for her second gold of the season.

Boch took her first silver medal of the season, while Buckwitz won bronze.

Germany’s Maureen Zimmer finished fourth, well ahead of Russia’s Alena Osipenko in fifth. Korea’s Yooran Kim finished sixth.

The race in Winterberg counted as a double-points event. The previous day’s action had been canceled due to fog.
