Schneider Wins 2-woman Gold in Sigulda

(December 12, 2021) – Stephanie Schneider and Claudia Schüßler cruised to victory in Sigulda, beating teammates Anne Spreeuwers and Theresa Leitz to win European Cup gold.

Schneider and Schüßler set the quick start time in both heats and were rewarded with the quick downtime in both runs to win by .15 over teammates Spreeuwers and Leitz.

The gold for Schneider was her fourth in five races. She leads the European Cup tour with two races to go despite missing a race in Altenberg.

For Spreeuwers, the silver matched her career-best finish set earlier int the season in Altenberg.

Korea’s Yooran Kim, who won the previous day’s monobob race, finished third, only .07 out of silver.

Giada Andreutti of Italy finished fourth, just ahead of Russia’s Alena Osipenko. Olesia Koppel of Russia rounded out the top six.

With a pair of races left in the European Cup season, Schneider leads Osipenko by 18 points. Lisa Buckwitz, who did not slide in Sigulda, sits third.
