(January 23, 2022) – Patrick Pigneter & Florian Clara cruised to victory, giving Italy its third straight doubles gold to start the 2021/2022 season.
Pigneter & Clara were the quickest off the top in both heats and in the first run beat out Russia’s Aleksandr Egorov & Ivan Rodin by .80. On the second run the Russians rallied to win the heat, but still finished well behind the Italians.
Austria’s Fabian & Simon Achenrainer finished third, 1.58 seconds back.
Kirill Kravchuk & Nikolai Shulgin and Myroslav & Ivan Lenko rounded out the five sled field in Romania.
