(February 18, 2022) – Jonas Frei won his fifth straight Para Sport World Cup bobsled race to finish off the season, and with it the season title.
Frei was by far the quickest in the field, as he set the two fastest times of the race to win by .66 over Great Britain’s Corie Mapp and by over a full second over Germany’s Nikolai Johann, who finished second and third, respectively.
Frei has been dominant on tour over the past five races, dropping only two of his past ten heats.
Frei’s teammate, Christopher Stewart, finished a second and a half back in fourth, while Italy’s Flavio Menardi and Austria’s Hermann Ellmauer rounded out the top six.
The United States’ Robert Balk finished just out of the top six in seventh, while teammate Guillermo Castillo finished 14th.
Frei’s win outstanding finish to the season clinched the overall World Cup points title ahead of The United States’ Robert Balk and Great Britain’s Corie Mapp.
