Delka Edges LaBerge in Park City

From Park City, USA

(November 22, 2022) – Jaclyn LaBerge was denied a sweep of the Park City NAC women’s skeleton gold medals on Tuesday as she was edged out by Puerto Rico’s Kellie Delka.

Delka carried a .2 second advantage over LaBerge going into the second heat. On that second run Laberge was quicker than anyone else. Delka’s second run, while not up to the time set by LaBerge, was just enough to stay ahead of the Canadian for her first gold medal of the season.

LaBerge finished second to cap a strong week of racing.

Canada’s Grace Dafoe was edged out by teammate Natalie Coughlin a day ago, but this time was the one doing the edging. Dafoe jumped up from fifth in the first heat to win bronze, only .04 ahead of Coughlin in fourth.

Coughlin’s two pushes were the quickest two of the race.

Katie Tannenbaum of the US Virgin Islands finished fifth, while Canada’s Tirza Lara finished sixth.

Shannon Galea of Malta and Spain’s Clara Aznar rounded out the eight sled field.
