(December 1, 2022) – Annika Krause and Magdalena Matschina beat out teammates Elisa Storch and Nina Reithmayer to win the first women’s doubles gold of the Junior World Cup season.

Krause and Matschina opened up a sizable lead of nearly .3 seconds after the first run over their teammates. Their second trip down the 1994 Olympic track was well off their first run pace, but still enough to finish with the second quickest run of the heat and plenty enough to win gold.

Storch and Reithmayer had the quickest run of the second heat and easily slid to a silver medal, while Austria’s Lina Riedl and Anna Lerch put down two consistent runs to finish with a bronze.

Latvia’s Viktorija Ziedina and Selina Zvilna jumped up from seventh in the first heat to finish fifth, ahead of the Czechian teams of Marketa Novakova /Anna Vejdelkova and Anna Cezikova / Lucie Jansova, who rounded out the top six.
