Fontanive Wins Second Gold in Altenberg

(December 3, 2022) – Swiss pilot Martina Fontanive used two strong pushes from brakewoman Mara Morell to win her second straight gold in Altenberg.

The Swiss team had the fast push of the race in the second heat and a competitive push in the first heat on their way to the two fastest runs of the race to win gold by a half of a second over Germany’s Diana Filipszki.

Fontanive’s winning streak is now at two, which is two more than her career total coming into Altenberg.

Filipszki, the reigning Junior World Championship U-23 champion, took silver for a career-best European Cup finish, whiel Romania’s Andreea Grecu put together a strong second run to move into the medals from fourth in the first heat.

Germany’s Charlotte Candrix finished fourth, ahead of China’s Qing Ying and Mingming Huau, who rounded out the top six.
