All four Austrians in the field broke the old track record, but it was Nico Gleirscher who took the lead after one heat, with Jonas Müller, Wolfgang Kindl, and David Gleirscher all just behind him. On the second run David Gleirscher moved into the lead with his three teammates to go to guarantee Austria its fourth gold in four events in Igls.

Woflgang Kindl was the next slider down and his second run time eventually was enough to leapfrog Jonas Müller to slide into second, with Müller in third. That left the younger Gleirscher brother to try to give Austria all four top spots.

On Nico Gleirscher’s second run he wasn’t quite at quick as his first run, but his record-breaking first run was enough to keep him ahead of his teammates and to give him his second World Cup gold medal.

The final finishing order saw Nico Gleirscher edging out Wolfgang Kindl for gold, while Jonas Müller took the final podium spot in third. Nico Gleirscher was the odd Austrian out in fourth.

With Gleirscher’s win, Austria took gold in every World Cup discipline, having won the women’s doubles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles races the day before. In the men’s doubles race Austria also swept the podium.

Italy’s Dominik Fischnaller was the first non-Austrian on the podium with a fifth place finish.

Jonny Gustafson scored a top ten in Igls on the strength of a very solid second run. He entered the heat in tenth and that second run slide moved him up to sixth. Teammate Tucker West had trouble at the start of his first heat that left him back in 17th after one run. His second run’s start was cleaner, and despite a little issue out of Curve 9, West was able to move up to 12th.
