Jäger & Steudte Win in Bludenz

From Bludenz, AUT

(January 19, 2023) – Moritz Jäger and Valentin Steudte slid to victory in Bludenz, easily beating out Latvia’s Kaspars Rinks and Vitalijs Jegorovs for gold.

The German duo had the quick time of the first heat, nearly two tenths ahead of the Latvians in second. On the second run it was Rinks and Jegorovs putting down the quick run of the heat, but the Germans’ lead was too big and their second run was more than enough to slide into the top position.

Jäger and Steudte won gold by .132 over the Latvians, while Americans Marcus Mueller and Ansel Haugsjaa slid from fourth to third to win bronze.

The win for the German duo was their third of the season and fifth straight podium. For Rinks and Jegorovs, the silver was their second, and second straight podium. Mueller and Haugsjaa’s bronze was their fourth in five races, with silver being their other medal on the year.

With one race left in the Junior World Cup season, Jäger and Steudte hold a commanding lead and just need to finish in the season finale to win the overall title. Rinks and Jegorovs are secondwith Mueller and Haugsjaa in third, close enough to possibly move up in the season finale.
