The duo set the quick time of the first heat, a track record, then lowered that track record with an even quicker second run on their way to a .126 second victory over the Austrian duo of Selina Egle and Lara Kipp.

Egle and Kipp was only .015 behind Degenhardt and Rosenthal after the first run, but couldn’t keep pace with the Germans on their second effort.

Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer set the start record in the first heat, and lowered it on the second on their way to a bronze medal.

Latvia’s Anda Upite and Sanija Ozolina finished well back in fourth place, ahead of Nadia Falkensteiner and Annalena Huber in fifth.

USA’s Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby finished sixth.

Maya Chan and Reannyn Weiler finished ninth on the United States sled.
