(February 17, 2023) – USA’s Mystique Ro won a tight race in Igls as she edged out Great Britain’s Amelia Coltman for top honors.
Ro had the quick start in the first heat as she slid to a .01 advantage over Coltman, with Germany’s Jacqueline Lölling and Corinna Leipold both within .15 of the lead.
In the second heat Lölling had a slight mistake late in her run that put Leipold into the lead with the two leaders to go. Coltman’s second run was quick again, .02 off of the pace set by Leipold but still enough to hold the lead by .12 with Ro to go.
Once again Ro had the quick start of the race, and for the second heat in a row she had the quick split at every interval on her way down the Austrian track to edge out Coltman by just .03 in the second heat for a combined time .04 ahead of the Brit.
Ro’s win was her second in ICC action to go with her three on the European Cup tour. Coltman’s silver was her fourth straight medal on the season. Leipold, who won bronze, scored her sixth straight medal in seven races on the season. She has yet to finish out of the top four in any race.
Italy’s Alessia Crippa finished the race in fourth, ahead of Lölling in fifth and Germany’s Sarah Wimmer in sixth.
With one race to go in the Intercontinental Cup tour, Lölling holds a 34 point lead over Leipold and can clinch the title with a finish of sixth or better in the season finale. Coltman is fourth, with Wimmer and Aline Pelckmans in fourth and fifth. Ro is sixth despite missing two races.
