The race was a one-heat race due to warm temperatures in the Tirol region. Of the expected contenders, Greta Pinggera took the lead from the 12th starting position with a great slide on a deteriorating track. Austrian rival Tina Unterberger kept Pinggera honest, but was unable to match the Italian’s downtime.

That left Lanthaler to go. The 31 year old had the quick start time of the competition and cruised from there as she won by over a second ahead of her Italian teammate, while Unterberger took third.

The win was Lanthaler’s 20th straight World Cup victory.

Austria’s Michelle Diepold finished fourth, ahead of Germany’s Sarah Schiller in fifth and Jenny Castiglioni in sixth.

American Katie Cookman finished 12th, one spot ahead of Canadian Nadja Loder.

Lanthaler’s victory clinched the World Cup title. Pinggera’s silver medal put her ahead of Unterberger by 11 points with one race to go in the season.
