Enzie Sweeps NAC Lake Placid Stop

From Lake Placid, USA

(November 18, 2023) – Blake Enzie once again won in Lake Placid to take his second straight gold medal, but this time had to come from behind to claim the top spot.

Enzie trailed USA’s Nicholas Tucker and teammate Ryan Kuehn going into the second heat, with the top four separated by just .24. On the second run Enzie put down the quickest run of the race to take the lead, with Kuehn and Tucker still to come.

Like he did in the first heat, Kuehn set the quick start of the heat and had a lead early. His second run was a tick slower than his first, but the top speed was better and enough to put him in the medals with just Tucker still to go.

Tucker’s second start was significantly better than his first, but the American couldn’t quite put together a second run to match his first. He crossed the line in fourth, .07 behind teammate Bradley Nicol and out of the medals.

Enzie’s gold medal was his second straight, while Kuehn’s silver was the first of his career.

American Bradley Nicol rallied from fourth to win a bronze medal, his second medal in three races dating back to last season.

Behind Tucker, Malaysia’s Jonathan Yaw finished with another top five in fifth, while Brendan Doyle finished in sixth place, up from eighth in the first heat.

Canada put four athletes in the top ten, with Jordan Rwiyamilira in eighth and David Park in ninth. Marc-Antoine Vigneault and Jacob Coleman finished 16th and 17th respectively in the the first races of their career.

Nicholas Brooks scored his first career top ten with a tenth place effort for the United States. Teammates Darryl Payne and Andrew Whittier-Neises finished 14th and 15th for the Americans.

Oren Milstein of Israel and Chanhyuk Yeo of South Korea both scored career best finishes in  11th and 12th, respectively.

The North American Cup skeleton tour moves onto Whistler at the beginning of December.
