From Park City, USA
(December 9, 2023) – Katie Uhlaender slid to a commanding victory in Park City to continue a streak of North American Cup medals.
Uhlaender opened up a .78 second victory over Canada’s Tirza Lara, with Grace Dafoe and South Korea’s Sujung Hong both in the hunt for medals behind her.
Hong slid into the lead, but was immediately supplanted Dafoe.
After Lara had trouble early in her run and slipped behind Hong, Uhlaender put down another outstanding run to win gold by over a second and a half.
The win for Uhlaender was her second straight and ninth straight medal. She has never finished off the podium in nine NAC races dating back to the 2008 season.
Dafoe’s silver medal was her best finish in the United States and third straight medal on the NAC tour. Hong’s bronze was her first on the North American Cup tour.
Tirza finished fourth, only .02 out of the medals, while the United States’ Logan Wudi finished fifth and South Korea’s Seokju Yang rounded out the top six.
Eire Rowland-Evans of Ireland, Finland’s Hannah Russwurm, and Canada’s Mackenzie Adams rounded out the nine sled field.
