Leger Comes from Behind for JWC Gold

From Whistler, CAN

(December 10, 2023) – Germany’s Marco Leger came from behind to win gold in the men’s singles Junior World Cup race in Whistler.

Leger trailed Canada’s Theo Downey by one tenth after the first heat, with Downey’s teammate Dylan Morse back in third.

On the second run Morse slid to the lead, but was immediately usurped by Leger, who slid to the top spot by .2 over the Canadian.

Downey had trouble late in his second run and fell to third, handing Leger the victory, and Morse silver.

USA’s Matthew Greiner finished fourth, about two tenths out of the medals. Germany’s Hans Fritzsch and Hannes Röder rounded out the top six.

Like their women’s luge teammates, the American men struggled in Canada. Aidan Mueller finished eighth, one spot ahead of Logan Barnes in ninth.
