Uhlaender Wins Third Straight, Wudi Wins First Medal

(December 10, 2023) – Katie Uhlaender added to an impressive North American Cup tally to start the season as she dominated in Park City for her third straight gold.

The 2012 world champion held nearly a full second advantage over teammate Logan Wudi after one run, with South Korea’s Sunjung Hong nearly a second and a half out of the lead in third.

In the second heat Hong was out-slid by teammate Seokju Yang as Yang moved into the medals. Wudi was next and easily clinched a silver medal.

For the second time in two races, Uhlaender had both of the fastest single runs of the day as she slid to a 1.88 second victory over Wudi, with Yang in third.

The race marked the tenth on the tour for Uhlaender, who usually slides on the World Cup circuit. She’s won gold in nine of those events.

For Wudi, the silver medal was her first in eight starts. She’d previously finished fourth three separate times.

Ireland’s Eire Rowland-Evans finished fifth, with Hannah Russwurm sixth and Mackenzie Adams rounding out the seven sled event.

With two races to go in the North American Cup season, South Korea’s Seokju Yang holds a 16 point lead over USA’s Logan Wudi, with South Korea’s Sujung Hong the top junior in third, three points behind Wudi.

Hannah Russwurm of Finland and Mackenzie Adams of Canada round out the top five.

Uhlaender has a silver and three gold medals in her four starts to sit sixth.

The North American Cup women’s skeleton program will take a brake until March, where it’ll finish out its season in Lake Placid.
