Hannighofer Wins 4th Straight EC Gold

From Altenberg, GER

(January 9, 2024) – For the fourth straight time on the Europe Cup tour, Hans Peter Hannighofer won gold, this time taking his second straight in Altenberg.

Hannighofer’s team gave him the fastest push in each heat, and he rewarded them with the two fastest runs of the competition on their way to a dominating win.

Hannighofer opened up a .3 second lead over teammate Alex Czudaj in the fist heat. On the second run Max Illmann slid to the lead from fifth and held the top spot as Mihai Tentea, Timo Rohner, and Czudaj all couldn’t match Illman’s downtime.

Once again Hannighofer put down a quick downtime, this time the fastest of the race to win convincingly by .84 ahead of Illmann, with Tentea in third, 1.1 back.

Czudaj finished fourth, with Rohner fifth and Germany’s Laurin Zern rounding out the top six.
