(February 8, 2025) – For the second straight day, Germany swept the top four spots of a bobsled race in Europe Cup action, this time in four-man bobsled led by Alexander Czudaj.
Czudaj was the first heat leader, up .18 over teammate Laurin Zern. Behind them, teammates Moritz Bollmann and Tobias Tostthaler were third and fourth.
In the second heat, Dostthaler took the lead from Austria’s Jakob Mandlbauer, the top non-German in the field, but was quickly beaten by Bollmann, who slid into the medals.
Zern was next, and put down the best run of the heat, a quarter of a second faster than anyone else to that point. Czudaj did his best to answer. With a start .17 slower, Czudaj did his best to maintain his lead, and as he crossed the finish line he found himself as the winner, just .05 ahead of Zern.
Czudaj’s win was his first in three starts this season, while Zern’s silver was his second straight medal. Bollmann’s bronze was his ifrst medal of the season.
Mandlbauer was fifth, .29 ahead of Czechia’s Matej Behounek in sixth.
Great Britian’s Nick Gleeson was ninth.
After five races in the Europe Cup four-man bobsled season, Tobias Dostthaler leads Moritz Bollmann by 62 points. Jachym Prochazka is third, just ahead of Jan Scherrer and Alexander Czudaj in fourth and fifth.
