Lochner Sweeps Lillehammer Four-Man Races

From Lillehammer, NOR

(December 14, 2025) – Johannes Lochner once again showed his mastery of the 1994 Olympic track with a fourth straight four-man gold medal in Lillehammer.

Lochner carried a .22 lead over Francesco Friedrich, and .28 over Adam Ammour as part of a Germany one-two-three after the first heat.

In the second heat, Ammour cleaned up a few mistakes from his first run and slid to the lead ahead of Italy’s Patrick Baumgartner, who’d jumped ahead of Great Britain’s Brad Hall in his second run.

Friedrich was next. Trouble at the start with Alexander Schaller and Alexander Schüller loading in the sled set the German champ behind early, and while he was able to close the gap on Ammour, his run was just a bit off and he fell behind his teammate with Lochner to go.

Lochner’s second effort didn’t have to be perfect, just clean enough. His second run was just .02 off of Ammour’s second effort and more than enough to take gold, with Ammour silver and Friedrich bronze.

Lochner’s win was his fourth straight in Lillehammer, and 17th of his World Cup career. Ammour’s silver was his first in four-man bobsled and fifth medal overall, while Friedrich rounded out the German podium sweep with his his eighth bronze in World Cup four-man action to go with 22 silvers and 36 bronzes.

Baumgartner took fourth, Hall fifth, and Kris Horn slid to sixth place for the United States.

Canada had another good showing in Lillehammer, this time with Taylor Austin sliding to seventh place. Teammate Pat Norton was 18th.

Frank Del Duca again had a tough start draw but this time was able to slide into 17th place, up from a tie for 18th in the first heat. His second run was the eighth quickest in the heat. Teammate Geoff Gadbois missed out on a second run by .06 and finished 21st.

Johannes Lochner leads the way in the World Cup standings with three races to go, up 40 points over teammate Francesco Friedrich. Adam Ammour is in third, ahead of Patrick Baumgartner and Brad Hall.
