From Pyeongchang, KOR
(December 19, 2025) – China’s Wengang Yan and South Korea’s Chanhyuk Yeo have been the two best sliders on the men’s Asian Cup circuit to start the season, and the two put on a show on Friday to finish out the Pyeonchang portion of the tour.
Yeo was second off in the first heat and set a time that was only matched by Yan, who was seventh off and .21 ahead of Yeo after the first heat. China’s Ruojun Zheng slid to third in the first heat, only .32 out of the lead.
Disaster struck Zheng in his second slide, as a huge mistake dropped him well down the order and out of the top ten, eventually landing in 12th. That was all Yeonsu Shin needed to score his fourth medal of the year.
Yeo was next, and put down a big second run that was .34 quicker than his first effort and enough to take the lead by .95 over his teammate with only Yan to go.
Yan, the reigning Olympic bronze medalist, out-started Yeo and seemed to have the race in hand. However a mistake late cost him time and Yan came nearly all the way back to Yeo, finishing as the winner but by just .02 for gold.
Yan’s gold was his second this season, with Yeo silver his second as well.
Great Britain’s Laurence Bostock was fourth, with China’s Guoqing Yu fifth and South Korea’s Eunwoo Kwack sixth.
Canada’s Ryan Kuehn was seventh, a tenth ahead of Great Britain’s Matthew Alvarez in eighth.
Jonathan Yaw scored another top ten for Malaysia in tenth, while Nick Timmings was 13th for Australia.
The Asian Cup men’s tour has only seen three medalists over four races, with Chanhyuk Yeo the point leader by ten over Wengang Yan. Yeonsu Shin is third, 50 points back with three bronzes and a silver. Laurence Bostock, Guoqing Yu and Nick Timmings round out the top six.
