From Lake Placid, USA
(January 2, 2026) – An outstanding 2025/2026 North American Cup season continued for Jamaica’s Shane Pitter, as the young pilot slid to two-man gold ahead of USA’s Grady Mercer in Lake Placid.
PItter and brakeman Joel Fearon put down a strong start and quick run to take the lead from the fifth starting spot in the first heat and put down a time that would go unmatched throughout the remainder of the day.
Their second run, while slower, was again the quickest of the heat on their way to a .24 second victory over Mercer and Hakeem Abdul-Saboor.
Canada’s Jay Dearborn and Chris Holmstead were third with the third quickest downtime in each heat.
The gold for Pitter was his third straight NAC two-man gold.
Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti and Edson Martins were fourth, ahead of teammates Gustavo Dos Santos Ferreira and Luis Bacca Goncalves.
South Korea’s Youngjin Suk and Suhyun Chun were sixth.
