(January 3, 2026) – Selina Egle and Lara Kipp continued a strong season with a come from behind victory in Sigulda.

Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina slid to the lead in the first heat, but had their first run time nearly matched by Egle and Kipp as the Austrians got within .04 of the German duo.
In the second heat, Egle and Kipp put down a nearly flawless run to take the lead from Italy’s Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhofer by .203 with just the German duo still to go.
Eitberger and Matschina fell behind early with a start that was just off of the pace set by Egle and Kipp. Their slide was not messy, but just wasn’t quite as good as the Austrians and as they crossed the finish line they found themselves in second, just .031 back, with Vötter and Oberhofer third.
After the race, Egle told FIL TV that fixing some issues up top was the key to victory.
“We had a better start curve in the second race,” she said. “We had some little mistakes in the rest of our run, but in Sigulda that’s pretty okay. ”
After a tough race in Sigulda last year, Eitberger was happy just to finish, let alone win silver.
“We are professional athletes but Sigulda is a tough place for us,” Eitberger told FIL TV. “We just tried to be alive at the end of the week. The results is better than last year and we’re so happy we finished today. ”
Latvia’s Marta Robezniece and Kitija Bogdanova slid to fourth, ahead of USA’s Chevonne Forgan and Sophia Kirkby, who slid to fifth from seventh place in the first heat.
USA’s Maya Chan and Sophia Gordon were sixth.
After four races of the FIL World Cup season, Egle and Kipp have a 30 point advantage over Eitberger and Matschina. Degenhardt and Rosenthal, who did not start the race in Sigulda, sit third overall, ahead of the teams of Vötter and Oberhofer, Forgan and Kirkby, and Upite and Pavlova, who are all tied for fourth.
