From Lake Placid, USA
(January 5, 2026) – Shane Pitter slid to gold in Lake Placid in what is the first of three four-man bobsled races on the 2025 World Championship track.
Pitter and his team had the quick start in both heats. In the first heat, Pitter opened up .29 seconds over Canada’s Jay Dearborn, with Brazil’s Edson Bindilatti sitting third.
USA’s Gracy Mercer took the lead from Canada’s Cyrus Gray then held it as neither Bindilatti or Dearborn could match his pace.
Pitter’s team out-started Mercer’s by .04 in the second heat, and Pitter threw down an outstanding second run to win by .52.
The win for Pitter was his third four-man gold of the 2025/2026 and fourth medal in the discipline.
Mercer’s silver medal was the first of his career in four-man, while Dearborn’s bronze was his fourth straight.
Bindilatti took fourth, Gray fifth, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Axel Brown sixth.
