From Lake Placid, USA
(January 6, 2026) – Katie Uhlaender cruised to victory in Lake Placid in her first start of the 2025/2026 NAC season.
The 2012 world champion took a .13 lead over South Korea’s Sujung Hong in the first heat, with Puerto Rico’s Kellie Delka third, a quarter of a second back.
In the second heat Delka took the lead from Switzerland’s Julia Simmchen, but was quickly picked off by Hong, with only Uhlaender still go to.
Uhlaender’s start was .4 off of Hong’s blistering 4.26 start, but Uhlaender was better the rest of the way down as she out-slid Hong by another .28 for a combined .41 second win, with Delka third, .53 back.
The win was her second of the season between Asian Cup and North American Cup, while Hong’s silver was her third straight medal between the two tours.
Simmchen finished fourth, Nanna Johansen fifth and Aline Pelckmans sixth for the best finish for all three this season.
Liesel Baker was ninth, Lani Huyke 17th and Grace Otto 20th for the United States. Grace Dafoe was tenth to lead the way for Canada, with Emily Bateman 14th, Amanda MacCarthy 18th, Madeline Parra 19th, Brielle Durham 21st and Julia Hamilton 22nd.
