Lochner Cruises to St. Moritz Two-Man Gold

(January 10, 2026) – Johannes Lochner put on a driving clinic in St. Moritz on Saturday on his way to gold in dominating fashion.

Not only was it a driving clinic, but a starting clinic as well. With Georg Fleischhauer on his brakes, Lochner had the two quick starts of each heat. In the first heat, Lochner drove to an advantage of over .4 ahead of teammate Francesco Friedrich in a drive that looked a bit messy but was very quickly.

In the second heat Lochner cleaned up the drive, and was rewarded with a race-quickest second drive on his way to a .78 second victory over his teammate and rival.

The gold medal was the fifth for Lochner in St. Moritz two-man action, tying the mark held by Friedrich.

Behind Lochner, Friedrich had a host of sliders to hold off if he wanted to keep silver to himself. He and Alexander Schüller had a pair of starts that were only matched by Lochner and Fleischhauer, and two drives that were fast enough to hold back the field to win silver.

Behind Friedrich were Brad Hall, Jinsu Kim, and Michael Vogt, all trying to work their way into the medals. Kim and brakeman Hyeonggeun Kim threw down a big 5.10 start to take the lead from Germany’s Adam Ammour, and then held that lead as Michael Vogt and Amadou Ndiaye couldn’t quite match the big Korean’s pace.

Hall came into the heat in medal contention for the first time this season. With powerful brakeman Taylor Lawrence on his brakes, Hall had a top five start. He then held on with a great drive, the fourth quickest of the heat, to solidify bronze for his first medal of the 2025/2026 campaign, with Kim, Vogt, and Ammour behind him.

The United States’ Frank Del Duca and Josh Williamson picked up one spot in the second heat to finish seventh, while Kris Horn and Carsten Vissering crashed out in their first heat.

Pat Norton and Luka Stoikos finished 20th for Canada, with teammates Taylor Austin and Keaton Bruggeling just behind in 21st.

With one race to go in the IBSF World Cup two-man season, Lochner holds a commanding lead ahead of Friedrich, with Ammour third. Del Duca Kim, and Vogt round out the top six.
