From Igls, AUT
(January 10, 2026) – Italy’s Valentina Margaglio slid to her second straight gold in Igls with a pair of race-quickest starts in the process.
Margaglio was the fifth off in the first heat and slid to a .2 second lead over USA’s Michelle Toukan after the first run, with Latvia’s Marta Andzane just a hunedreth off the pace of Toukan in third.
The second heat saw China’s Yuxin Liang throw down a strong second effort, one that bumped Toukan out of the medals, with Andzane and Margaglio to go.
The Latvian was quick, enough to stay ahead of Liang, but Margaglio was quicker. The Italian bettered her first heat start by a hundredth, and had the quickest run of the heat to slide to a .34 second victory over Andzane with Liang bronze.
Toukan, Darta Zunte of Estonia and Great Britain’s Ashlyn Bland rounded out the top six.
Isabella Fasnidge (14th) and Leah Kidd (21st) both made the second heat for Great Britain, while Regan Walker (28th) just missed the second heat cut.
Sha’Londa Terry was 22nd for the United States.
