Ammour Wins First World Cup Four-Man Gold

From St. Moritz, SUI

(January 11, 2026) – For the length of his World Cup career, Adam Ammour has been overshadowed by teammates Francesco Friedrich and Johannes Lochner, and coming into St. Moritz had won five World Cup bronzes and a silver behind his more successful teammates.

But that changes on Sunday, as Ammour beat the field for his first gold medal.

Ammour trailed Lochner by .09 after the first heat. Behind the two Germans was a tight pack of sliders including Cedric Follador, Patrick Baumgartner, Markus Treichl, Michael Vogt and others.

The second heat saw Austria’s Treichl put down a burner of a second effort to take the lead from seventh place and hang onto that spot for one sled. It was then Vogt’s turn, and the Swiss pilot put down one of his better drives of the season to take the lead.

Vogt then watched on as Baumgartner couldn’t quite match his pace, then teammate Follador have a bumpy second run that would place Vogt in the medals and Follador out.

It was then Ammour’s turn. His team had the second quickest push of the competition and Ammour the best drive of it on their way to the lead with only Lochner still to come.

As they always are, Lochner’s team was strong at the top, and Lochner seemed to have a very good drive throughout his run. The speed from Horseshoe down just wasn’t quite there compared to Ammour’s, and while his downtime was second quickest of the competition, it left him behind Ammour by .07 for silver, with Ammour gold and Vogt bronze.

Ammour’s gold was his seventh four-man medal and third gold between two-man and four-man. For Lochner, silver was his 47th medal in four-man competition.

Vogt’s bronze was his third in the discipline.

Baumgartner was fourth, tied with Treichl.

Notably absent from the medal discussion was Francesco Friedrich.

Friedrich had trouble in the first heat where one of the push bars would not get back into the sled. The bar bumped the wall a few times and Friedrich found himself in 14th after the first heat. His second drive was the third of the heat, and he moved up into the top sixth with a sixth place finish.

Along for the ride with Friedrich was Brad Hall, who was 11th after the first heat but moved up to eighth.

Canada’s Taylor Austin and Pat Norton each had a pair of consistent drives on their way to 12th and 14th respectively, while USA’s Frank Del Duca finished 16th.

With one race to go in the World Cup season, Johannes Lochner holds a 59 point lead over Francesco Friedrich. Adam Ammour sits third, Patrick Baumgartner fourth, and Brad Hall fifth.
