Germany Wins Winterberg Relay

From Winterberg, GER

(January 11, 2026) – Germany slid to gold for the second time in the 2025/2026 World Cup Team Relay season, duplicating their effort from the last time the tour came to Winterberg.

Romania kicked things off in the race but two teams later were picked off by the United States, who were then quickly dispatched by the Italians.

Up next were the Germans. Julia Taubitz had a decent first slide, but was out-slid by Italy’s Verena Hofer. But from there it was all Germany. Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt got the German team to the lead, then Felix Loch and the team of Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal held serve to take the lead by well over .7 seconds.

Neither Ukraine, Poland, or Latvia were able to match the pace of the top three. Austria was the final team off the top, but women’s gold medalist Hannah Prock had a bit of an issue in her run and found herself fifth after her run. Steu and Kindl and Jonas Müller helped close the gap, but Egle and Kipp were unable to make up the ground needed, with Germany taking the victory, Austria second, and Italy third.

The United States, Latvia, and Poland rounded out the top six.

With two relays to go in the 2025/2026 season, Austria leads Latvia handily. Germany is third, Italy fourth, Poland fifth, and Ukraine sixth.
