From Igls, AUT
(January 15, 2026) – A day after matching a career-best finish in women’s monobob, Poland’s Linda Weiszewski slid to her first victory in Igls.
Weiszewski was off early and set a downtime that nobody would get within a tenth of a second of. The closest was Europe Cup point leader Charlotte Candrix, who was .13 back, with the previous day’s gold medalist Adele Nicoll back in third, .18 off the pace.
The second heat saw Nicoll throw down a blistering run, the quickest of the second heat and enough to hold off Candrix, who missed Nicoll’s two-heat pace by just a hundredth of a second.
For the first time in her career Weiszewski stood atop the track in Igls as the leader and the last slider off. Her start was the quickest of the competition, and her slide the second quickest of the heat and enough to hold back Nicoll by .13 to take her first gold medal, with Nicoll silver and Candrix bronze.
German standout Leona Klein was fourth, .19 out of the medals, while Denmark’s Maja Voigt was fifth. Canada’s Erica Voss rounded out the top six, tied with China’s Mingming Huai.
USA’s Lauren Brzozowski was eighth.
With one race to go in the Europe Cup season, Candrix leads Klein by 20 points, with Brzozowski in third. Simona de Silvestro, who did not start the race, remains fourth with Selina Isler fifth.
