Candrix Remains Perfect in Igls

From Igls, AUT

(January 18, 2026) – Charlotte Candrix continued her perfect two-woman Europe Cup season with another win in Igls.

Candrix and brakewoman Claudia Schüßler slid to a .09 second lead over teammates Diana Filipszki and Leonie Fiebig after the first heat, with Great Britain’s Adele Nicoll and Ashleigh Nelson in third, a distant .34 back.

But Nicoll thew down a strong start and the quickest drive of the second heat to take the lead from Germany’s Leona Klein and Jana Vollmer  with Filipszki and Candrix still to go.

Filipszki was next. As they had in the first heat, she and Fiebig had the quick start of the heat, but Filipszki had only the third quickest slide of the second heat. It was enough to take the lead, but left the door open for Candrix and Schüßler.

Candrix took advantage. While she was out-started by Filipszki, her drive was better than her teammate’s and enough to take gold by a combined .17, with Nicoll third .29 back.

Candrix’s gold was her seventh straight to start the eight race season. Filipszki was second for her first medal on the season with Nicoll winning her first medal in two-woman on the year in bronze.

Klein was fourth, Simona de Silvestro and Anna Costella were fifth, with Mingming Huai and Zuan Wang tied for sixth with Italy’s Giada Andreutti and Alessia Gatti.

Canada’s Erica Voss and Brynn McNabb were 13th.

With one race to go in the Europe Cup two-woman season, Candrix holds a commanding lead over Klein. Andreutti and de Silvestro are fourth and fifth, with Filipszki in sixth.
