(January 25, 2026) – The race weekend didn’t start great for the Peter and Matthias Lambacher. The duo struggled in training, and made the decision to switch spots on the sled, with Peter taking the front and Matthias the back.

Come race day, that decision paid off, as the Lambachers out-slid Austria’s Maximilian Pichler and Nico Edlinger to win their first European championship.
Gabriel and Samuel Halcin took the lead early from Bulgaria’s Antoni Stoichkov and Petar Savov, but were quickly picked off by Pichler and Edlinger.
The Lambachers were next. Withom Peter on the front of the sled for the first time this season, the duo pulled off as the third quickest from the top, and was still .31 behind Pichler and Edlinger midway down. But a nearly flawless slide on the bottom of the run gave the Lambachers the lead by .35 ahead of Pichler and Edlinger.
After Czechia’s Tomas Hasek and David Rydl couldn’t find their way onto the podium, the final team off was Italy’s Tobias Paur and Andreas Hofer. Paur and Hofer out-started their teammates but wee unable to keep pace with either the Lambachers or Picher and Edlinger as they slid to third place to win bronze, with Pichler and Edlinger silver and the Lambachers atop the podium as the European Champions.
The European Championship was the one think Peter and Matthias Lambacher had not won as a team. Matthias had previously won a European Championship alongside older brother Patrick.
“This title was still missing from our collection,” Peter told FIL media after the race. “It was hard work, but we’re incredibly happy!”
Halcin and Halcin were fourth, with Hasek and Rydl fifth, tied with Plonka and Hudy.
