From Altenberg, GER
(March 7, 2026) – Selina Egle and Lara Kipp may not have won Olympic gold in Cortina d’Ampezzo, but their season was otherwise a huge success, capped off with a track record and gold medal in Altenberg.
The duo were the last team off the top in the first heat and threw down a big first effort to take the lead ahead of Latvia’s Marta Robezniece and Kitija Bogdanova, with Germany’s Dajana Eitberger and Magdalena Matschina in third, just five thousandths of a second behind their Latvian rivals.
The German duo picked off Olympic gold medalists Andrea Vötter and Marion Oberhoer in the second heat to take the lead by nearly two tenths of a second, then held their spot as the Latvians couldn’t quite match their pace.\
But Egle and Kipp wouldn’t be denied a final gold medal of the year. The duo put down a track record 41.844 in their final run of the season to win by .151 over Eitberger and Matschina, with Robezniece and Bogdanova third.
“I feel amazing,” Egle said after the race. “After our first run we knew Dajana and Magdalena were really strong so we’d need another perfect run. It’s a great victory, and with the Crystal Globe it’s an incredible feeling!”
Vötter and Oberhoer were fourth, with Elisa-Marie Storch and Pauline Patz fifth, and Anda Upite and Madara Pavlova sixth.
The win was more than enough to give Egle and Kipp the season title ahead of Eitberger and Matschina. Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal were third on the season despite only racing in seven of the nine races.
Storch and Patz finished the season in fourth with Upite and Pavlova fifth.
