(January 19, 2026) – It may not have been as big of a blowout as it was the previous day, but Wengang Yan once again slid to gold in Asian Cup men’s skeleton action as he held off teammate Zhongxu Lin for the final gold medal of the season.
Yan was eighth off in the first heat and opened up a sizeable lead over teammate Qinzhou Bai. Given how the previous few races had gone, that lead seemed safe, but Lin was next and out-slid his teammate by .22 to take the lead ahead of the field.
In the second heat, Aoyu Zhang slid to the lead ahead of Bai, but saw that lead vanish quickly as Yan threw down the quick run of the race to take the lead with just Lin to go. Lin couldn’t answer, as his second run was well off of Yan’s second heat pace. As Lin crossed the finish line, Yan took gold by .41 ahead of Lin, with Zhang a distant two seconds back in third.
The gold for Yan was his fifth straight. He’d already easily clinched the season title ahead of South Korea’s Chanhyuk Yeo,w ith Yeonsu Shin and Eunwoo Kwack rounding out the top four.
Laurence Bostock finished the season in fifth.
