FIL World Cup – Round 1 – Women’s

From Lillehammer, Norway

Germany will go into the Men’s event looking to sweep gold in Norway as Natalie Geisenberger takes gold, moving up from 6th to 1st in her second run.  Russian Tatiana Ivanova takes second with a very consistent set of runs, while Canadian Alex Gough slides to the first Canadian medal of the season in third.  Latvia’s Eliza Tiruma and Austria’s Nina Reithmayer take fourth and fifth.

It looked promising early for the Americans, an injured Kate Hansen went into the second heat in first, but a disappointing second run left her in 12th.  Erin Hamlin finishes 8th, tops for the US, while Julia Clukey takes 19th and Summer Britcher did not finish.

On top of Gough’s bronze medal, Kimberley McRae scored a top 20 in 18th, while Arianne Jones takes 21st.
