2013/2014 FIBT World Cup – Igls – Women’s Skeleton

From Igls, AUT

The battle continues between British slider Lizzy Yarnold and American Noelle Pikus-Pace.  Pikus-Pace gave away a little bit at the start in Igls, and that’s all it took to put Yarnold into the gold medal position.  Pikus-Pace had better speed late in the run, but it wasn’t enough to make up the difference in the start.  Austrian Janine Flock continued her career year, scoring bronze on home ice.  Russian Maria Orlova tied with Flock for third, while Great Britain’s Shelley Rudman took fifth.

American Katie Uhlaender continues to recover from some head injury issues.  She had a good run minus one hit in both runs, and finished 12th.  British slider Rose McGrandle took 14th.

All three Canadians (Sarah Reid, Mellisa Hollingsworth and Robynne Thompson) sat out Igls and will sit out Königssee due to concerns for concussions.
