2015/2016 IBSF World Cup – Women’s Bobsled – Race 1

From Altenberg, GER

After a disappointing 2014/2015 season for Kaillie Humphries, the Canadian Olympic champion is back. Humphries set the track record in her first run, and was the only pilot under 57 seconds in either heat to score her first gold since the 2014 Olympic games.

Belgium’s Elfje Willemsen continues to be on the edge of a gold medal, taking silver behind Humphries, while keeping ahead of a small but stacked field.  American Jamie Greubel Poser and Austrian Christina Hengster tie for bronze. Anja Schneiderheinze finished fifth while German teammate Sandra Kroll took 6th.

Elana Meyers Taylor set a start record with Cherrelle Garrett in the first heat, but a uncharacteristicly bumpy set of runs to finish eighth.

Belgian An Vannieuwenhuyse finished a World Cup career-best seventh, and Maria Constantin finished ninth for Romania.
