2015/2016 FIL World Cup – Double’s Luge – Race 5

From Sigulda, LAT

The team of Wendl & Arlt dominated the double’s event in Sigulda, holding off the home-ice team of Gudramovics & Kalnins.  Penz & Fischler finished third, scoring yet another bronze medal for the Austrian team.

Latvia put two sleds in the top four with the team of Sics & Sics, while Oberstolz & Gruber finished fifth and Mortensen & Terdiman of the United States sixth.

It was a brutal event for pre-race favorites of Eggert & Benecken, who crashed in their first run. The Germans did make it to the end of the run to take a second trip down the Latvian track, but finished over 30 seconds off the pace.
